The Dynamics of the Linguistic Concept: A Case Study on the Issue of Conceptual Foundation and the Plurality of Perspectives in Arabic Linguistics
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper aims to trace the most significant linguistic concepts that have
highlighted the problem of conceptual foundations and the multiplicity of conceptual
perspectives. The linguistic concept is an indispensable epistemological basis for
constructing linguistic theory and developing tools for linguistic analysis. We have
examined the most prominent stances on the terms naḥw (grammar) and iʿrāb as
addressed by various scholars, linguists, and grammarians, discussing the plurality of
perspectives and the divergence of viewpoints. We have also outlined the primary
foundational, innovative, functional, and pragmatic interpretations. This diversity has
contributed to shaping what may be called the "dynamics of the linguistic concept."
