Abstract

This article examines the theme of friendship in the corpus of fraternal
correspondence, where the friend constitutes both the central focus and the ultimate
purpose of discourse. The friend emerges through multiple representations and
profound, interrelated dimensions that reflect his status and significance within this
literary genre.
This study approaches the theme of friendship through an ethical, emotional, and artistic
discourse that transcends the limits of personal relationships to reveal society's
perception of human bonds. It also highlights the role of fraternal epistolary writing in
shaping and consolidating the image of the friend within classical Arabic prose
discourse.
