Ideology and its Impact on Objectivity in Writing Algerian History: The Events of May 8, 1945 as a Case Study
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research paper aims to examine a critical aspect of Algerian historical writing: the
divergent accounts and writings of historians, both those from the French school, which
sought to serve colonial objectives, and those from the Algerian school, which focused
on serving national goals. The writing on certain topics differed between the two groups
to the point of contradiction, which could distort the truth and compromise objectivity.
This study will attempt to clarify the underlying factors that contributed to these
differences.
