Symbolic interaction between the sexes and its impact on shaping male dominance "A study in the concept of gender"
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study focuses on the relationship between men and women through the symbols of
social interaction between them, which are based primarily on cultural concepts that
distinguish between the sexes in functions and roles within society. Symbolic violence in the
interaction between women and men is one of the most important manifestations that clearly
appears through social institutions of all kinds. The family, as the primary institution in raising
its children, prefers males over females, and gives the latter an inferior image that it accepts on
the basis that its duty is to serve men and adhere to what he dictates in terms of control, power
and domination. This idea has expanded to include the rest of the institutions of society, from
the media, educational institutions, economic, political, cultural and even religious institutions,
so that women become the point of activation of societal culture in embodying the meaning of
symbolic violence with gender roots.
