Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of the use of the digital newspaper as a pedagogical strategy to strengthen reading comprehension in first-year university students in Montería. Based on an action research approach, a series of didactic activities based on the analysis and production of digital journalistic texts were implemented, with a sample of 50 students. It is based on the premise that interaction with digital journalistic texts allows students to develop critical and inferential reading skills, fundamental in their training process. The results show that the implementation of this strategy favored the development of reading skills, promoting the interpretation and critical analysis of information. Likewise, there was an increase in interest in reading and an improvement in the ability to structure ideas from digital texts. It is concluded that the use of the digital newspaper in the university classroom represents an effective didactic tool for the development of reading comprehension and critical thinking in the context of higher education.
