Digital Narratives and the Evolution of Textual Forms: A Study of Hypertext Fiction
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study seeks to explore the impact of hypertext fiction on traditional literary forms and the evolving role of readers in narrative experiences. Hypertext fiction is known for its non-linear structure, interactive features, and incorporation of multiple modes of expression. This study employs a mixed-methods approach, utilizing textual analysis, qualitative content analysis, and reader surveys. The findings demonstrate notable changes in narrative structures enabled by digital technology, as hypertext fiction provides a more interactive and engaging reading experience in contrast to conventional linear narratives. The findings reveal that hypertext poses challenges to established literary theories, specifically in the areas of authorship, narrative structure, and reader engagement. This indicates a necessity for updated literary frameworks capable of accommodating the intricate nature of digital narratives.
