Abstract

Among the styles of the Arabic language is the phenomenon of prohibition, a notable aspect that definitively negates, being the opposite of affirmation. This negation is expressed through various methods, the strongest of which is prohibition, performed using the definitive prohibitive particle (la). Prohibition can be employed as a form of supplication when directed from a lower to a higher status and is realized in the present tense verb, as it denotes the current time, with the verb being marked by the jussive case. I have examined this style within the commentaries on the hadiths of Riyad al-Salihin and found that the commentators have shown considerable attention to this phenomenon in their texts on the hadiths of Riyad al-Salihin. I have divided it into two sections: literal prohibition and figurative prohibition.
